I have lived in White Bear Lake for 25 years. My wife Jodi and I have four grown children and six grandchildren. We live on Birch Lake.

It is through Birch Lake that I became active in our community. Birch Lake is shallow. It is only seven feet deep. It is very clean but is often overrun with weeds. You can’t sail on Birch Lake. We had a lake association, and I became president. Every year I would go around the lake and beg for donations to help control the weeds. Then I learned about a new state law that allowed a group to form a Lake Improvement District. This is a special tax district that works as a part of the city government. All I needed was 51% of the lake shore owners to sign a petition. So, I went around the lake one last time and we formed the Birch Lake Improvement District. We have a board of directors. I am the current Chairman. We have taxing authority. We manage a budget for controlling weeds, stocking fish, and running an aerator to keep them alive through the winter.

For over ten years I have stood before the White Bear City Council and presented the BLID budget for approval. I watched those meeting and thought to myself. The people who run for City Council and Mayor really perform a service. It is one that few see but it is one that when done well results in a wonderful town.

I am running for Mayor because I want to serve our city and advance our tradition of a destination place to live.
  • I would like to be your captain.

In many ways a city is like a ship. We all live in the same geography. Instead of walking corridors we travel down our streets. We all eat and drink and yes go to the bathroom. All these things happen on a ship. They all happen in our town. It is our city government that keeps them all running. The city provides our water, sewer, and our trash collection. The city paves our streets and plows the snow.

We are all cruising through life in our town called White Bear Lake.

What is my goal? As my name suggests: Four More Years of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness!

I would like your vote to captain the ship of our wonderful city for the next four years.
  • Public Safety The two largest departments of the City of White Bear Lake are the Fire Department and the Police Department. I plan to support and promote those departments. We have experienced leadership and qualified officers, fire fighters, and staff. They provide response times that are lower than the state averages.
  • Build Our Brand I want to build the brand of White Bear Lake both internally and externally. By internally I mean promoting the city to our citizens. I want to encourage each person to contribute to supporting the city in some form. This will include volunteering for youth sports programs, community groups like the Lions, Rotary, and VFW, and other service organizations. I want to promote citizenship to our students. By externally I mean promoting White Bear Lake to the Twin Cities. This means meeting and supporting our local businesses. I will participate in regional groups and promote White Bear Lake.
I like to treat all public policy with equal weight.
Integrity and honesty.
I believe that laws should be enforced. I believe that elected officials need to follow the constitution.
