Stephen Martin-Pinto is a fifth generation San Franciscan who was raised in District 7. He graduated from St. Phillip's Elementary, Lowell High School, and University of California at Davis. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, where he was a HMMWV driver and Aircraft Firefighter. In 2009, he was selected for Officer Candidate School and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. During his time on active duty, he served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Georgia (the country), and Korea. In 2014 he left active duty and transitioned to the reserves. He moved back to San Francisco ans was hired by the SF Fire Department. He has been assigned to Pacific Heights, mid-Richmond, Inner Sunset, Bernal Heights, Civic Center, and Chinatown stations. He is a state certified fire instructor, NERT instructor, and serves on the department's Vision Zero and Tactical EMS committees. He was president of the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association, Secretary of West of Twin Peaks Central Council, and Veteran's Affairs Commission.
