Stephen McAlpine
Stephen McAlpine was a member of the Alaska Regulatory Commission. McAlpine assumed office in 2015. He left office at the end of his term on March 1, 2021.[1]
McAlpine was lieutenant governor of Alaska from 1982 to 1990.
Biography
Commissioner McAlpine moved to Valdez, Alaska in 1970. He was appointed to Valdez City Council and was twice elected as the city's Mayor. In 1982, he was elected to his first of two terms as Alaska's Lieutenant Governor. In 1988, he was selected as a Toll Fellow by the National Conference of State Governments. He has also served as chair of Westtrends, liaison to the Western Conference of State Legislators, and a member of the National Conference of Secretaries of State.[1]

Alaska Regulatory Commissioner (2015 - 2021)
McAlpine was appointed by Governor of Alaska Bill Walker to the Alaska Regulatory Commission for a six-year term beginning March 1, 2015. He left office at the end of his term on March 1, 2021.[1] He served as chairman of the commission from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2019.[2][3]

McAlpine served two terms as lieutenant governor. He served his first term with former Gov. Bill Sheffield (D) and his second term with former Gov. Steve Cowper (D).
