Stephenson County Conceal Carry Question (November 2012)
A Stephenson County Conceal Carry Question is on the November 6, 2012 ballot in Stephenson County.
This measure seeks to allow residents in the county to be able to carry a concealed weapon. Though the legality of the measure has been brought to focus, law experts have stated that if the measure were to be approved it would not have to go into affect because the question is only advisory since Illinois have laws against concealed weapons. Supporters of the gun carry law collected signatures to place the issue on the ballot, obtaining more than the require 1,200 valid signatures. Supporters have stated that they see this as a means for local residents to protect themselves against criminals as well as the justice system.[1]
