Stephenson County Transit Advisory Question (November 2012)
A Stephenson County Transit Advisory Question was on the November 6, 2012 ballot in Stephenson County.
This is an advisory question and will ask residents if they would like the county to provide a county-wide transit system which would be funded by funds from the state, county and federal governments. A system is already being developed in the county, but officials put this to an advisory vote to see what resident's opinions were on the proposed system. If this measure is defeated, it likely will not have an impact on the current plan which is being developed. Opponents have questioned how the system would be funded, while the current plan does not ask for local funds some are worried that there will be additional taxes levied later to fund the system.[1]
