Steven M. Bieda is a former Democratic member of the Michigan State Senate, representing District 9 from 2011 to 2018. Bieda was unable to run for re-election in 2018 to the Michigan State Senate because of term limits. Bieda served in the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 25 from 2002 to 2008.

Bieda was a Democratic candidate for Michigan's 9th Congressional District in the U.S. House. Bieda withdrew from the election before the primary scheduled for August 7, 2018. He withdrew from the 2018 U.S. House election on April 23, 2018, to run for Macomb County clerk and register of deeds.[1]

Bieda received his bachelor's degree and M.P.A. from Wayne State University and his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Bieda also earned his Master of Tax Law degree from Wayne State University Law School. He worked as director of labor relations in the City of Warren, and senior policy analyst for the Michigan House of Representatives. He designed the back side of the U.S. Olympic Half Dollar, which was issued by the U.S. Mint in 1992.

Elections for the Michigan State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. Incumbent Steve Bieda was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Hawke Fracassa was unopposed in the Republican primary. Bieda defeated Fracassa in the general election.[2][3][4][5]
