Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a first generation American, an engineer, and a Philadelphia resident for over 12 years. I am not a politician, political organizer, activist, or wealthy business owner. I am a guy who is tired of seeing Philly fail to live up to its potential, while seeing other large cities in America thrive. I am running on a single major issue: Term Limits for Philadelphia City Council. This is a key issue to creating a step-change in the type of candidates seeking municipal office in Philadelphia. I have chosen to run as 3rd party candidate, under the 'Term Limits Philadelphia' party, to give people a chance to vote their stance on this important issue. My platform calls for a focus on policies that will help Philadelphia build a quality tax base, while incentivizing candidates to work for real change instead of focussing on fundraising and re-election campaigns.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• Term Limits are essential to attracting candidates that are interested in making real change instead of those that want to make a career out of fundraising and re-election campaigns. As a first step, I pledge to serve no more than 2 terms, and I would seek the same pledge from every incoming member of Council.
• No step-change progress can be made without focussing on the issues that are essential to building a quality tax base. That means attracting employers with higher paying jobs and focussing on quality of life issues like trash, street maintenance, and crime.
• We need to re-focus our resources on improving publics schools in order to retain families in this city. Having young families leave Philadelphia for the suburbs, just as they reach a point in their lives where they can make the greatest contributions in their community, limits this City's potential.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Term limits are my number one policy concern. Due to the overwhelming majority of Democratic voters in Philadelphia, elected Democrats are generally secure in their elected offices. This leads to elected officials focussing on fund raising and building mutually beneficial relationships with donors and those with influence in their community. I believe that elected officials should focus only on what is in the best interest of the City, not what will help them to get re-elected. I want to make it easier for those candidates that want to work for step-change policies to run for office. In a single party city, that requires term limits.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

I look for inspiration to my parents, who left their home as young parents in their 20s, and immigrated twice before they were 30 years old. they worked extremely hard to make reality of out the notion of the American Dream. They showed me that hard work is what matters, and idealistic platitudes and promises mean nothing if you can't back them up with real work and real results.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My first real job was as an engineer at the Sunoco oil refinery in South Philadelphia. I worked there for 3 years, gaining invaluable knowledge about working with people from very diverse backgrounds, personal responsibility, safety, and environmental impacts.
