Career

Steve DeMicco attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., during the 1970s. He founded Message & Media, a Democratic political consulting firm, alongside fellow politico Brad Lawrence in 1992. The firm saw early success with former Democratic Congressman Rush Holt's 1998 congressional campaign. Over the next decade, the team went on to win campaigns for every statewide elected seat including three U.S. Senators and two governors of New Jersey. DeMicco worked on former Democratic U.S. Senator and Governor of New Jersey Jon Corzine's 2000 senate bid, Democratic U.S. Senator Cory Booker's successful 2006 race for mayor of Newark, N.J. as well as the successful 2006 campaign of Democratic U.S. Senator Robert Menendez.[2][3][4][3]

In 2011, Message & Media merged with 4C Partners, a media and fundraising organization, to form 4CM&M. The firm has offices in Washington, D.C., New Brunswick, N.J. and Boston, Mass.[5]

Besides political campaigns, DeMicco has also consulted for nonprofits and community initiatives including New Jersey's Partnership for Prescription Assistance (Rx4NJ), a nonprofit providing free or low-cost prescriptions to qualified individuals, and We Work for Health NJ, a grassroots initiative that connects medical researchers with community members to drive innovation. He has also worked with New Start New Jersey, a nonprofit founded by former Democratic U.S. Ambassador to Germany Phil Murphy in 2014. The group aims to improve quality of life in New Jersey and grow the state's economy.[3][6][7]

In 2013, Campaigns & Elections magazine named DeMicco to the Influencers 500—a list of key Democratic and Republican political influencers in each state—for his work in Democratic New Jersey politics.[8]
