Steve Durham (Republican Party) is a member of the Colorado State Board of Education, representing Colorado's 5th Congressional District. He assumed office in 2014. His current term ends on January 9, 2029.
Durham (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Colorado State Board of Education to represent Colorado's 5th Congressional District. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Durham was first appointed to the board in 2014 and was elected to a full term in 2016. Prior to that, Durham served in the Colorado State Senate in 1981 and between 1985 and 1988 and in the Colorado House of Representatives between 1977 and 1981.
Biography
A longtime resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Durham graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1969. In between his terms in the state Senate, Durham served as the Regional Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency's Region VIII. Following his 1988 retirement from the state Senate, Durham began a career as a lobbyist.[1]

Colorado State Board of Education (2014-present)
Durham was first appointed to the Colorado State Board of Education in November 2014, following the election of former board member Paul Lundeen to the Colorado House of Representatives. Durham was elected to a full six-year term in November 2016.[1]
Colorado State Senate (1981, 1985-1988)
Durham was first elected to the Colorado State Senate in November 1980 and took office the following January. He stepped down later that year after being appointed as a regional administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency by President Reagan. Durham was reelected to the state Senate in November 1984 and took office the following year before retiring in 1988.[1]
Colorado House of Representatives (1977-1981)
Durham was first elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in November 1976 and took office the following January. He was reelected in 1978.[1]
