Steve Harding is the Mayor of Pierre in South Dakota. Harding assumed office on July 5, 2017. Harding's current term ends in 2026.

Harding won re-election for Mayor of Pierre in South Dakota outright after the general election on June 6, 2023, was canceled.

Mayoral elections in Pierre are nonpartisan. Harding is affiliated with the Republican Party.[1]

Biography

Harding graduated from Black Hills State University and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He served in the South Dakota Army National Guard for 34 years. Harding worked in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development for 22 years before becoming deputy secretary of the South Dakota Department of Military and Veterans Affairs in 2009, a role from which he retired in 2021. He previously owned Harding Motor Company.[2][3]
