Steve Hart is a partner and chairman with the legal and lobbying firm Williams and Jensen.[1] Hart was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[2][3]
Career
Lobbying
Steve Hart joined the legal and lobbying firm Williams and Jensen in 1984 as a partner. In 1991, he was made the firm's president, which was followed in 1999 with move to chairman and CEO of the company.[3][1] According to Politico, Hart's clients include Visa, the American Council of Life Insurers, Anthem, Cheniere Energy, Coca-Cola, General Electric, HSBC, Pfixer, PhRMA, and United Airlines.[3]
Reagan administration
Named one of the top lobbyist by The Hill and one of the top fundraisers by the National Journal, Hart had served under Ronald Reagan in a number of roles.[4][1] He was a special assistant for judicial nominations in the U.S. Department of Justice, was a member of the President's Reorganization Task Force on ERISA within the Office of Management and Budget, and was on the Pension Welfare Benefits Program for the U.S. Department of Labor.[1][4]
Boards
Hart is on the board of The Congressional Awards Foundation, "a federally chartered youth organization." He serves on the board of the Lung Cancer Alliance and had served as president for the alliance as well. He is a fellow at the Michael F. Price School of Business Administration at Oklahoma University, where he had received his undergraduate degree.[1]
Donald Trump presidential transition team, 2016-2017
Hart was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team in his first presidential term. The transition team was a group of around 100 aides, policy experts, government affairs officials, and former government officials who were tasked with vetting, interviewing, and recommending individuals for top cabinet and staff roles in Trump's administration. He was the team's Department of Labor advisor.[3][4]
