Campaign themes
2014
Highlander published a list of his priorities on Nooga.com:
“ | Identify three issues that are important to you as a candidate.
1. More local control of schools -- parents, teachers, & board as opposed to Washington; more face to face encounters among parents, teachers, board members & commissioners 2. School safety -- especially upgraded exits & entrances and safe check in and out procedures 3. Financial management & responsibility -- encourage Hamilton County receiving its fair share of state B.E.P. monies WITHOUT any local tax increases If elected how would you address those issues? 1. Board member would organize open meetings with parent organizations, school personnel, commissioners & central officefor each district school. 2. Board member would work with local schools, central office, & commissioners to fund and implement a safe, modern entrance program for each school & work with all to produce safe check out procedures. 3. Board will work with local legislators to push the state to increase Hamilton County's share of the state money to the appropriate level.[6] |
