Steve Hughes
Steve Hughes was a justice on the Texas Eighth District Court of Appeals. He was appointed to the court by Governor Rick Perry (R) on October 10, 2014.[1][2] He ran for election in 2016 and was defeated in the March 1 primary. His term ended on December 31, 2016.
Education
Hughes earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in music performance from Texas Tech University. He earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.[1]
Career
Prior to joining the court, he was an attorney for the law firm of Mounce, Green, Myers, Safi, Paxson and Galatzan P.C.[1]

Hughes ran for a full term on the Eighth District Court of Appeals in the 2016 elections in Texas. Hughes registered for the 2016 race as a Democrat. He faced four Democratic challengers in a primary. No Republican candidates filed to run for the seat.[2] Hughes was defeated.
