|Steve received a congressional nomination to the United States Air Force Academy, where he majored in engineering and political science. While on active duty, he served as a flight officer on-board EC-130 and C-141 aircraft during Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force at the rank of Captain, Steve moved to Los Angeles with his husband, Brian, a maritime attorney. He continued his public service as an educator, while later attaining his Master’s degree from the Marshall School of Business at USC.
Steve’s passion for public service further deepened when he saw the need for safer communities here in Los Angeles. He parlayed this need into a career as a peace officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. For the past 13 years, it has been his honor to serve communities throughout Los Angeles. Steve currently holds the rank of Sergeant.
Steve is an advocate for homelessness and family violence prevention. He has had the honor of working directly with non-profits like Children’s Institute International and Project E.R.I.N., which shelter and treat victims. Steve formerly served as Homeless Chair of a Neighborhood Council committee.
