Steve Kimbell
Steve Kimbell is a former Vermont Commissioner of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Healthcare Administration. He first assumed office on January 7, 2011, appointed by Gov. Peter Shumlin, and announced his retirement in November 2012. He stepped down on January, 2013 and returned to his sheep farm in Tunbridge. Kimbell was succeeded by his deputy commissioner, Susan Donegan.[1]
Biography
Kimbell was born and raised in Illinois, where he attended public schools. He graduated from the University of Illinois and the University of Michigan Law School.
In 1973, Kimbell moved to Vermont. He began his legal career working as a staff attorney for Bob Sherman to create the public affairs law firm now known as KSE Partners, LLP. Kimbell managed statewide campaigns for former Vermont Governor Madeleini Kunin in both 1978 and 1982, and served as the state planning director from 1984 to 1985. He retired from the KSE on July 1, 2010.[2]

Political career
Vermont Insurance Commissioner 2011-2013
Kimbell was appointed to lead the Department of Financial Regulation by Gov. Peter Shumlin in January, 2011. He will leave office upon the expiration of Shumlin's first term, on January 3, 2013. Kimbell's deputy overseeing the insurance industry is Susan Donegan, whom Shumlin appointed as his replacement.[3]
