Steve King (Wisconsin)
Steve King was the District 7 representative on the Madison Common Council in Wisconsin from 2009 to 2019. He did not seek re-election in 2019.
Although common council elections in Madison are officially nonpartisan, King is known to be affiliated with the Democratic Party.[1]
Biography
King earned a B.A. in economics and international studies from Portland State University and an M.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.[2]
When he served on the city council, King's professional experience included working as an employee experience system leader and regional director of organizational development and talent management for SSM Health, a learning and development manager for Meriter Hospital, the owner of Mind the Gap Consulting, and a manager of training and organizational development for Spectrum Brands/Rayovac. He also served as president of the South Central Wisconsin chapter of the American Society of Training and Development and cochair of the Madison Area Diversity Roundtable.[2]

The city of Madison, Wisconsin, held an election for common council on April 4, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 3, 2017.
All 20 common council seats were up for election in 2017. Incumbents ran for re-election in 19 of the 20 districts. They were unopposed in 15 of those races. Incumbent Steve King ran unopposed in the general election for the District 7 seat on the Madison Common Council.[3]
