Steve Luikart represented District 5 on the Pasco County School Board in Florida. He was first elected to the board in 2010. Luikart won re-election in the general election on August 26, 2014, defeating challenger Marc Yacht. Luikart did not seek re-election in 2018.

Luikart earned a B.S. from the University of West Florida. He later received master's degree in administration, supervision and curriculum in education from the University of South Florida. Luikart worked as a teacher and assistant principal at district schools from 1976 until his retirement in 2008. He and his wife, Nancy, have three children and four grandchildren.[1]

The August 26, 2014, general election in Pasco County featured three seats up for election. District 5 incumbent Steve Luikart won re-election, defeating challenger Marc Yacht. Fellow board members Allen Altman and Cynthia Armstrong ran unopposed and won their re-election bids in District 1 and 3, respectively.
