|I stayed in Nashville for 18 years. Early 2000s Nashville was an exciting place, and reminds me often of Louisville today. During that time I grew my career as an environmental engineer, met my wife Jocelyn (in the Baltimore airport- true story!), and had our son. In 2018, I took a job at a firm in Philadelphia, shortly before our daughter was born. In 2021, another opportunity took our family to Louisville, and we were fortunate to find a home in Seneca Gardens. I love this city, and I hope you’ll give me the opportunity to serve all of our nearly 700 great residents as your next City Commissioner.
I am an environmental engineer at a nationwide consulting firm specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure. I lead a team of about 60 engineers and designers supporting projects all over the country meant to keep our waterways safe. When I’m not dealing with dirty water, I make the time for things like - Former Council President at Holy Name Church in Nashville - Active member at St Agnes Church, including as a lector - Cub Scout den leader
- Volunteer and officer in Knights of Columbus- Simplify Ordinances
I travel all over the country and speak in front of city commissions big and small in support of my company’s projects. It’s hard when the rules are clear, and nearly impossible when they are not. Frankly, we in Seneca Gardens can do better in streamlining this permitting process and making the requirements clearer, all while maintaining the beauty for which our city is known and loved.
Our ordinances are in need of a lot of cleanup. Did you know that there is a fine of $500 for selling Girl Scout cookies without first sending a letter from a doctor to the City Clerk stating that your daughter is free from contagious disease? - Trees and Environment Protecting the environment is my passion and my job. As your commissioner, I will make sure our tree budget is secure and well-funded, both to prune and maintain our existing trees, as well as to plant new trees to replace those that succumb to disease or storms. Our City Arborist does a tremendous job, and I want to make sure he continues to have the resources to do so.
- Solar Energy Right now, only about half of the city can take full advantage of solar panels. Because panels cannot be visible from the street, people whose rear yards face north are placed at a disadvantage. However, I appreciate the aesthetic concerns that are part of a city like ours, which is full of 100 year old homes. As your commissioner, I’ll gather community input and work with our City Architect to see if there is a way that we can balance the goals of maintaining curb appeal with increasing renewable energy.
- Clarify when an architectural permit is NOT required (interior improvements, etc.)
- Allow for other varieties of curb stones that fit with the city’s character, but are less expensive and still protect yards from traffic
