Steve Murphy
Steve Murphy (b. September 9, 1957) was a Democratic member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing the 28th District from 1992 to 2011. Murphy was re-elected in November of 2006 with his term expiring in 2010.
Murphy did not seek re-election in 2010.[1]
Murphy attended Eastern Illinois University, Red Wing Technical College, and Southeast Minnesota Technical College. Murphy's experience includes working as a fuels technician.

On November 7, 2006, Murphy won re-election to the 28th District Seat in the Minnesota State Senate, defeating Steve Drazkowski (R).[3]

Legislation
Murphy has been active in sponsoring medical marijuana legislation in Minnesota. This may lead to a Medical Marijuana Amendment appearing on the November 2010 ballot in the state.[4]

Murphy represented Minnesota Senate District 28. District 28 includes the LaCrescent-Winona region near the Minnesota-Wisconsin border[5].
