|Before being elected County Commissioner, Steve served the people of Adams County as a Deputy District Attorney where he sought justice by balancing the interests of the victim, the community, and the defendant. In addition to his service as a prosecutor, Steve also has over a decade of experience in business as an attorney at Holland & Hart and a consultant/supervisor at Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting). Steve also teaches business law as an affiliate faculty member at Regis University in the Anderson College of Business and Computing.
Steve grew up in Colorado. His family has deep roots in the metro area and Adams County. He is proud to come from a family that promotes integrity, education, and hard work.
- Public safety and fighting crime is a priority in our community. As a former deputy district attorney in Adams County, Steve is the only candidate with actual experience in law enforcement. Local police officers and firefighters endorsed only Steve for the District 4 race in 2022, showing that those who put their lives on the line for our families believe Steve is the best candidate for the job.
- Affordable living is getting harder to retain in Adams County. While Adams County remains the most affordable county in the metro area, it is getting harder to keep up with increasing cost of living and housing costs. Steve has experience working in the community and with the private sector, so he knows how to forge relationships to build public-private partnerships to drive down costs to the public, while increasing investments in the community.
- Clean water and clean air are concerns for every family in Adams County. Steve has been a leader in calling for more transparency about emissions of toxics in the air and pollutants in the water. People in Adams County should breath clean air without having to suffer disproportionate levels of respiratory illness and burdensome expenses of filtering the air in their homes. Likewise, Adams County residents should not bear the burden of paying for bottled water because they fear to drink the water from the sink in their own kitchen. Steve is the only candidate in District 4 who has stood up to the polluters and demanded "bad actors" be held accountable.
