Steve Thompson (Georgia)
Steve Thompson (b. December 22, 1950) is a former Democratic member of the Georgia State Senate, representing District 33 from 1991 to 2015.
Thompson served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1980 to 1990.
Biography
Thompson's professional experience includes working as an Administrative Assistant for the Cobb County Commission Chair, Vice President of the Georgia State Bank, and owning Affiliates Group A Business Services Company. He served as Flightdeck Crew Chief in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1971.

Elections for the Georgia State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014, with a runoff election taking place where necessary on July 22, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Michael A. Rhett defeated incumbent Stephen P. "Steve" Thompson in the Democratic primary and was unchallenged in the general election.[1][2][3]

Thompson ran in the 2012 election for Georgia State Senate District 33. Thompson ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on July 31, 2012. No Republican candidate filed to run for this seat. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5] Thompson ran unopposed in the general election.[6]

Thompson won re-election to the 33rd District seat in 2010. Thompson defeated Republican opponent Craig Prewett in the November 2, 2010, general election.[7]

On November 4, 2008, Thompson won re-election to the Georgia Senate from Georgia's 33rd Senate district. Thompson ran unopposed in the general election, and he received 48,627 votes.[8] Thompson raised $26,950 for his campaign.[9]
