Steve Townsend ministered as a full time pastor in four different churches from 1985 to 2015, and consistently engaged in many conservative political groups during that time. In 1994 he served as Committeeman for South Carolina's largest Congressional precinct. After moving to Georgia, Steve supported the many conservative candidates who were elected in local, state, and federal elections. He has also assisted other various organizations, such as Hope to the Hill Ministries, with which Steve helped to personally hand-deliver a copy of the Patriots Study Bible to nearly every Congressman and Senator in Washington. He currently works for National Write Your Congressman in the North Georgia area.
  • Guarding Your Second Amendment Rights - The founding fathers understood self-defense is a God-given right. This right is protected by our Constitution, and should not be limited by the government at all.
  • Supporting GA Pro-Life Legislation - Georgia has led the way in protecting the unborn, and we need to continue to do everything we can to continue this momentum in the right direction.
  • Protecting Religious Freedom - Prayer in public is as important as teaching our children to say the Pledge of Allegiance in our schools. Keeping One Nation Under God in the forefront of culture is important. And the Bible, a document that helped shaped the founding of our nation, should be openly quoted without ridicule.
Standing Against Political Corruption- Many concerns for our community are not being heard in the capitol. I can accomplish what needs to get done for our businesses and community without placing a burden of heavy legislation and taxation on our grandchildren. With your support, we can Keep North Georgia Great!
The Lord Jesus Christ. He was God who came to be a man like us. He was compassionate, loving, and yet he stood against evil wherever He encountered it. He was strong and yet meek. He always did what God the Father wanted.
Being a Bible-believing Christian, I find it interesting that the Lord identifies several character qualities as prerequisites for government leaders, and the predominant quality is integrity. The Lord expected his leaders to rule, judge, and serve "in the fear of the Lord."
I maintain a consistent walk in my Christian life and I value my integrity above all else. I have obtained a lifetime of experiences as a full-time pastor, business owner, husband of 36 years, father of five children, and involvement with various political endeavors and campaigns.
I remember the news coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy; I was only 5, but I remember watching the t.v. news coverage at my babysitter's home.
Delivering newspapers when I was 13 years old in Memphis, Tennessee. I did that for 2 years.
This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti; it brought to life the reality of the unseen spirit world and the spiritual warfare going on around us
The Georgia State House, like the U.S. House of Representatives, is the body of legislation that speaks for the people of a smaller region, whereas the Georgian State Senate gives consideration to broader views and legislative issues. A State Representative has the responsibility to be very much in tune with the values and needs of his particular district.
It is not entirely necessary for a state legislator to have actual experience in government to be effective; in fact, it can actually be beneficial for a legislator to be newly elected, in that he approaches his position with a fresh perspective and with new ideas. However, it is very beneficial to have previous experience with the entire process of how government works and how an individual gets elected. A lifetime of life experiences is a tremendous asset that usually results in a wise outlook.
Training our young people in trades and skills must be a high priority in order to provide the labor force needed for manufacturing and skilled jobs. We must also establish policies that promote and encourage entrepreneur and small business start-ups. And we must continue to have far-reaching planning to ensure that Georgia's infrastructure can handle a growing population. Making it easier for people to commute to work and home must be a top priority. Another challenge will be preserving the beauty and resources of our state as the population continues to grow.
The ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature would be when both agree that the government has specific roles that are limited, and when both are committed to encouraging personal responsibility on the personal level and at the local level. The ideal relationship would be that both are committed to punishing evil, and praising and encouraging what is good. In other words, promote a culture where people can live safely and have the freedom of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
It is vital that a legislator build relationships with other legislators since legislation requires a coalition of votes to succeed. To establish a relationship does not mean that one must agree with another on everything, otherwise one of them is not needed. However, healthy relationships are built on trust and on understanding. There must be an on-going communication of seeking to understand what others are trying to say, and then to have the freedom for a healthy dialog that should result in the best course of action to take.
Yes. I would be interested in serving on Defense and Veterans Affairs, Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Economic Development and Tourism, Small Business Development.
The one story that I hear a lot is that many people do not think that their elected officials really listen to what "we the people" back home are saying. I want my constituents to know that I want to really listen and to hear what they are concerned about.
