Serving Our Community Steve has had proven and strong leadership in the district. Having worked with and passed numerous budgets, all of them balanced, Steve has ensured that Ottawa county was stable for the present, and the years to come. Steve has worked to clean the water in Ottawa County when he was commissioner, and he is actively pursuing that now as your state representative. He has held townhall meetings, discussed issues with local leaders, and serves as an open resource for everyone in the 89th District. Steve understands what it takes to be a state representative, and understands its a position for service, not for political gain. Lake Erie Lake Erie is the gem and chief natural resource for our community and state. Steve has been committed to ensuring the health of the lake and its residents that use it. As a commissioner, Steve held the first international meeting on the lake regarding its health and care on Pelee Island in Canada. He not only coordinated this meeting between various U.S. agencies, but also different Canadian agencies as well. As your state representative, Steve has fought for and supported legislation to establish new methods for testing and maintaining the lake's cleanliness, chief among these, the securing of funds to establish a water lab through the Erie County Health Department. Steve's lengthy experience with the lake and its issues are second to no one when it comes to those wanting to serve in the Ohio House of Representatives. Economic and Workforce Development From his time as a village councilman to his current post as a state representative, no one has been fighting harder for the district and its businesses more than Steve Arndt. Steve understands that not only do we need to have stable and secure jobs for our residents, but that we need to ensure that those residents can move up the ladder of success so that their quality of living for themselves and their families can increase. Steve has already worked to address this with his introduction and action on House Bill 500, his "Pathway Out of Poverty" bill, which seeks to establish a program for people to seek vouchers for educational purposes, such as licensing classes on welding and carpentry, or for driving classes, so that people can get the best jobs for the highest income possible. Once again, no one compares to his drive or commitment that he has for all people of Ottawa and Erie Counties. Education Funding As many of you well know, K-12 funding has been cut severely in our district. Additionally our schools need updating and new facilities to continue providing the quality education to which our students are entitled. We have a fighter in Steve Arndt, who not only has fought to restore 90% of the previous funding level to our districts, but has also worked to introduce legislation, with Senator Randy Gardner, to help our schools move around the Ohio Facilities Commission and secure funding for needed updates and improvements. Steve is the candidate to accomplish and address what our district truly needs. Fighting for the District For too long, our district has been left behind in the budgeting process. When the state's budget was written, our district was not included in the process and has missed its fair share of funding. Luckily, with Steve, he has fought for and worked to better the district through the budget process. This is apparent through funding that Steve secured through the latest Capital Budget. Steve attained more than $3 million in funding for the district, ranging from improvements for the Sandusky Theater, to Camp Perry, to the Erie County Health Department. Steve already goes to the community to learn how he can help improve the district, if elected, he will continue this effort that has been lacking in the past for Ottawa and Erie Counties.[3] |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
