Campaign themes

2016

Cain's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

States Rights:

  • I believe the Federal Government has taken too much from our state. Our citizens should be able to keep more of the wealth that we produce, rather than handing it to someone else.

Gun Rights:

  • Every law-abiding citizen should have the right to own a firearm for protection and to provide food. Our second amendment rights must be protected.

Big Government:

  • The only people who profit from big government are those in charge. In Wyoming I have seen too many people in the coal, oil, gas and railroad industries lose their jobs because of big government. I believe that the EPA needs to be reigned in and not be allowed to destroy the Wyoming economy.

Taxes:

  • Without the income from our minerals, the only way to maintain our current level of spending is to turn to the public and increase tax levels through additional taxes (sales, food, income and property). I believe a better option would be to get rid of unnecessary expenditures to allow Wyoming families to keep more of what they earn.[4]
