Born and raised in Ithaca, New York. Steven developed a passion for agriculture as a small child helping in his grandmother’s garden. His childhood was filled with various trips to local farms to harvest and preserve food for the cold, hard winter months. He is the product is a single mother household, his mother did everything she could to provide Steven with all the opportunities to shine.

Steven was the first member of his family to graduate from a 4 year college. He received his bachelor’s in science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Biology from University at Albany in 2007. Stevens’ career path led him to Southwest Florida in 2016 to start farming and working with other small local farms to improve distribution of food to families throughout the community. After Hurricane Ian caused catastrophic damage to his farm in Punta Gorda, the decision was made to not rebuild. This led Steven to his current career with Green Life Farms located in Babcock Ranch. As Food Safety Manager, he oversees food safety and quality control for the company’s leafy greens and butter lettuce products currently available at over 1300 Publix grocery Stores.

As a member of the Florida Agricultural community, Steven has a passion to help farmers survive during these tough times. Florida farmers are in trouble and Steven wants to represent them in the Florida House of Representatives.
  • Insurance Reform: Addressing the Florida insurance crisis requires a multifaceted approach, including legal reforms, risk reduction strategies, and consumer empowerment. By working collaboratively, policymakers, insurers, and homeowners can find sustainable solutions to stabilize the market and ease the burden on residents.
  • Agriculture: I’m proposing a drastic overhaul of the Florida Agricultural system. We need to explore the possibility of mechanization and the use of AI to help improve the efficiency of our agricultural lands. There needs to be more investment in crop research and development and trialing of more specialty crops. The State and Federal Government need to subsidize and incentivize the current farms still in operation and promote the development of more advanced agricultural systems such as CEA’s (Controlled Environmental Agriculture) to improve the resiliency of the food system. Food security is important today more than ever as the threat to our Global food system could be disrupted by environmental catastrophes, political unrest, terrorism
  • Clean Water: The Water Quality issues facing our community stem from many different causes. The problem starts a long way away from our community. The entire state needs to make some impactful changes to how we regulate and manage our natural environment. Our community is drastically impacted by poor water quality and red tide on our health and tourism. Here are some sustainable solutions to help improve our waters: Regenerative agricultural principles. Treatment of water in Lake Okeechobee before it is released. Incentivizing faster completion of current projects intended to send releases water south. Investment in rural municipal sewage infrastructure.
I passionate about creating meaningful change for everyday Floridians. We need more legislation that directly improves the lives all the folks that call Florida their home.
An elected official must answer directly to their constituents. Partisan politics and personal opinions do not help everyday people, elected officials have a duty to honor and respect the wishes of their constituents.
