Steven D. Pierce (Massachusetts)
Steven D. Pierce was the chief justice of the Massachusetts Housing Court Department in Massachusetts.[1] He was nominated to the court by former Acting Governor Jane M. Swift in December 2002 and was confirmed by the Governor's Council in January 2003.[2][3][4] He began serving as chief justice in 2006.[4]
Pierce retired on September 30, 2015.[5]
Education
Pierce received his undergraduate degree from Union College and his J.D. from the Duke University School of Law.[6]
Career
From 2001 to 2002, Pierce served as the chief legal counsel in the Governor’s Office under Acting Governor Jane M. Swift. He also previously served as the executive director of the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency from 1995 to 2001, was a Republican member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for 12 years, and worked as an attorney in private practice.[2][3]
