Steven E. Kirkland was a judicial candidate for the 113th District Court in Texas.

Kirkland was previously a judge for Texas District 215. He lost re-election in the 2012 Democratic primary, to Elaine H. Palmer, and left the court at the end of that year.[1][2]

Kirkland ran for election to the 113th District Court in 2014.[3]

Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 52.0 percent of the vote. He competed against Lori C. Gray.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 46.4 percent of the vote. He competed against Michael Landrum. [3][4][5] 

Education

Kirkland earned an undergraduate degree from Rice University. He graduated cum laude and was awarded a J.D. from the University of Houston's Law Center.[6]

Career

Kirkland has worked with the city attorney's office for the City of Houston where he has worked on economic development projects. He has also worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston’s School of Communications teaching communications law and ethics.
