Campaign themes
2014
Guede's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]
- Repeal Common Core - The children are the key to our future. If a few officials and lobbyists get to make the decisions for our kids, what will happen to them? Education is best handled locally. The Federal Government is not my children's parents, nor yours.
- Create more jobs for Alabama families - 75% of new job growth comes from small and medium-sized businesses. We need to offer small businesses the same kind of incentives, we would give large corporations to expand. New businesses create real growth.
- Lower Taxes - The states with the lowest taxes attract the best people and businesses. Alabamians work hard for their money and the last thing they need is to pay higher taxes. As your next State Senator, I will fight for hard working Alabamians to pay lower taxes.
- Protect Alabama's Constitution - Rewriting of our state's Constitution by legislative fiat is unconstitutional. We, again are faced with the few trying to subjugate the many. The Alabama Supreme Court has written an advisory opinion stating this is unconstitutional. If the Supreme Court advises that this is unconstitutional, why are some of our state legislators pursuing this behavior.
- Limited Government - The scope of our government needs to be drastically reduced. The government has become way too bloated and should not run our lives.
- Term Limits - I pledge to serve no more than two (2) terms if elected. The permanent political class is one of the reasons why real change rarely occurs. Term limits are essential to serving the public. Being elected to an office, should not be a career path, it should be a temporary job.
- Protect our Second Amendment Rights - The Second Amendment is essential to keep tyranny at bay. We have the right to bear arms not sporting goods.
- Pro-Life - If we cannot protect Life, how can we call ourselves Christians. What separates the Christian world from all others is our value of Life.
- Traditional Marriage - The Modern definition of marriage is a Christian Edict. It is defined as a holy union between a man and a woman ordained by God.
