Campaign themes

2014

Hale's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]

Economic Development

  • Excerpt: "My single most important goal is to help bring Economic Development to the people of McNairy, Hardeman and Fayette Counties. Families struggling with poverty level wages or unemployment find it difficult to get excited about other important political issues. The State must partner with local communities and private entrepreneurs to bring good jobs to our part of Tennessee."

Right to Life

  • Excerpt: "Abortion is a national disgrace. The State of Tennessee must pass a constitutional amendment to ban it within our borders. However, it’s not enough to say that I’m a Right to Life candidate. I want to help women find the support they need to avoid the decision to have an abortion."

Common Core

  • Excerpt: "We need to set the highest standards for our children’s education. Many public schools are deplorable. Some are drug infested breeding grounds for delinquency. We cannot accept this and pretend its only happening in inner cities. I oppose Common Core but for us to be successful in defeating it, we need the state and communities to step up and demand the best from our schools."

The Judiciary

  • Excerpt: "I do not believe that judges should be chosen based on party affiliation. We need a politically neutral judiciary."

The Second Amendment

  • Excerpt: "The Constitution is clear. The right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed. With every right comes a responsibility. Carrying a weapon designed to kill brings a high level of responsibility. If you sell a gun to a convicted felon, you bear responsibility. If you use that weapon in the commission of a crime you should spend serious, day for day time in prison. In fact, if you use any weapon in the commission of a crime you should do hard time."
