The city of Charlotte, North Carolina, held elections for mayor and city council on November 3, 2015. A primary took place on September 15, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 17, 2015.[9] In the District 2 race, incumbent Alvin "Al" Austin defeated Steven Jones in the Democratic primary, while Justin Dunn was unopposed in the Republican primary.
