Steven Mayoras was a 2016 Libertarian candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 4th Congressional District of Indiana.

Mayoras received his B.S. in animal science from Purdue University. He is self-employed and also works as a personnel representative.[1]

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Republican. Incumbent Todd Rokita (R) defeated John Dale (D) and Steven Mayoras (L) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Rokita withdrew from the race on July 15, 2016, in order to run for governor of Indiana following a ballot vacancy. Rokita was not chosen to fill that vacancy, prompting him to once again seek re-election to his House seat. Republican committee members decided on August 13 to reinstate Rokita on the ballot.[2] Rokita defeated Kevin Grant in the Republican primary.[3][4][5][6]

Mayoras issued the following statement regarding his bid for office:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." - United States Constitution

Our Federal Government is far from what our Founding Fathers envisioned as our more perfect union. As a republic, we have the responsibility of holding our representatives accountable if they do not obey the U.S. Constitution. We have slowly lost protection of our natural rights. At a time when Congress has repeatedly shown it no longer represents We The People, we have a responsibility to place citizens in those seats that will respect the law of the land and return to a size of government that cannot abuse the limited powers designated to it through the United States Constitution. I am running for office because I understand, as a representative, I work for the citizens of Indiana District 4 and have a duty to uphold the Constitution. [7]
