Nelson was a 2015 Independent candidate for District 19 of the Virginia State Senate.[1]


Biography

Nelson was born in Roanoke, Virginia. He obtained a B.A. in public administration from Appalachian State University, where he minored in economics. He also obtained a degree in business administration economics from Harvard University.[2]

Nelson worked for 17 years at Piedmont Airlines. As of 2019, he was a Series 7, 31, 63, 65, and Rule 144 specialist.[2]

Elections for the Virginia State Senate took place in 2015. A primary election was held on June 9, 2015. The general election took place on November 3, 2015. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 26, 2015.[3] Michael Hamlar was unopposed in the Democratic primary. David Suetterlein was unopposed in the Republican primary. Steven L. Nelson (Independent) ran as a third party candidate. Suetterlein defeated Hamlar and Nelson in the general election.[4]

I am retired and was a primary care giver for my deceased father and now my 91 Y/O mother. I have a BA in Public Adm. and minor in Economics from Appalachian State University. I went to Harvard University for 2 years at night studying Business Adm. and Economic. I have 17 years exp. in the aviation business. Opened Boston, opened the Dayton Hub and then opened the Yield Mgt. office in Winston Salem. I managed $200M out of $1B in revenue. I was asked to move to NOVA and become Director of Strategic Planning but left and became a VP at Morgan Stanley for 10 year in Roanoke.. Later I went into business consulting and financial planning for another 12 years.
fix I-81 AFTER 20 years of neglect and improvements. We have 2000 wreck a year on this road. In the Roanoke Valley THERE ARE almost a wreck daily and it stifles commerce but ALSO KEEPS Police, Fire, EMS, and the SCHOOL busses cannot get the children home or after school on time. Interstate 81 is the life line for commerce in SWVA.

Future I-73 started in 1992 and all we have done is REPLACE RUSTED out Future I-73 signs while NC HAS COMPLETED 99.43 miles of I-73. Future 73 is PROJECTED to be built in 2037 at $3.2B.
