Leader-Telegram questionnaire

Olson participated in the following survey conducted by Leader-Telegram. The questions provided by Leader-Telegram are bolded, and Olson's responses follow below.

Why did you decide to run? What interested you in the position?

I have been interested in the School board position for some time. I waited until my wife Deb retired as a teacher in the Chippewa School system five years ago. With my retirement I feel there is now time to commit to the position.[4][5]

Clearly, the results of the referendum will be the major item for the 3-year term. If the referendum passes, what will be your focus?

After attending an informational forum about the referendum I believe the current board and administration has laid out the plan and the steps to be taken upon approval. If elected as a new board member I will do my best to acclimate and work with the other members of the board to complete the process.[4][5]

If it fails, how long should the board wait to go for another referendum? What would be your strategy moving forward?

At the informational forum it was explained that if the referendum failed for a second time there was a mandated waiting period until it could be voted on again. If elected I would serve the students, community and staff to determine the best direction for the future.[4][5]
