Steven Vartabedian
Steven M. Vartabedian was a judge on the Fifth District of the California Courts of Appeal. He was appointed by Governor Deukmejian and, after his confirmation, took the oath of office on October 19, 1989. He retired on May 31, 2010 and has been counsel with the law firm of Dowling, Aaron & Keeler in Fresno. He performs mediations and arbitrations and is available for appellate advising. .[1]
Education
Steven Vartabedian was born on May 8, 1950 in Fresno, where he also grew up. He graduated from California State University at Fresno in 1972. He received his law degree magna cum laude from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1975. From 1976 to 1981, he taught business law at California State University, Fresno. He is married with three grown children.[2]
Career
Steven Vartabedian began his legal career as a private practice attorney shortly after graduation from law school. He served on the Sanger Justice Court from 1981 to 1983. After this, he was appointed to the Fresno Municipal Court, where he served until 1987. That year, he was elevated to the Fresno County Superior Court, where he served until his appointment to the Court of Appeals. He authored more than 180 opinions published in the California Appellate Reports.[2]
