Steven W. Paynter was a justice of the Queens County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the 11th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to this position in 2008.[1][2] His term ended on December 31, 2021, upon reaching the court's mandatory retirement age.[3]

Biography

Education

Paynter received his B.A. degree from Manhattan College and both his M.A. and J.D. degrees from Fordham University.[1]

Career

Paynter began his career in 1981 as an Assistant Queens County Attorney. He then worked from 1988 to 1991 as a court attorney for Acting Justice Anthony Savarese before returning to his Asst. District Attorney position. He worked in that capacity until becoming a judge. He was elected to the New York City Civil Court of Queens County in 1996. He was then elected to the Supreme Court in 2008.[1]
