Claudia Tenney (R) defeated Kim Myers (D) and Martin Babinec (Upstate Jobs Party) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Tenney defeated George Phillips and Steve Wells in the Republican primary, while Myers faced no primary opponent. The primary elections took place on June 28, 2016.[1][2][3][4][5]

2016

The following issues were listed on Wells' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Steve Wells Receives an “A” Rating from the National Rifle Association: I am honored to receive an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association, the highest rating an outsider like myself can receive. An “A” rating shows a strong commitment to the 2nd Amendment and the principles of the National Rifle Association. As a national, and international, champion skeet shooter I know how valuable our constitutional right to keep and bear arms is for our sportsmen and, more importantly, for our security.
  • Let’s Tell Our Farmers ‘Thank You’: Our farmers work hard to provide us with safe, nutritious milk, and other delicious food grown right here in upstate New York. But the government responds with more regulations and taxes for agricultural businesses.
  • Thank Our Veterans: I am incredibly thankful for our veterans. The commitment of these men and women to our nation is inspiring.
  • ObamaCare Is Hurting Americans: ObamaCare is moving farther and farther away from being “affordable care”. Providers are quickly dropping Obamacare after consistently sustaining enormous losses because of the failed program.
  • We Must Fight Terrorism: There are more terrorist groups threatening us than ever before. As Americans we have targets on our backs.
