Three of the five seats on the Lake Elsinore Unified School District board of trustees were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. Two were four-year terms, and one was a two-year term due to an appointment on the board.[2] In their bids for re-election to four-year terms in Trustee Areas 2 and 4, incumbents Susan Scott and Juan Saucedo, respectively, ran unopposed and won re-election by default. Incumbent Harold Stryker was defeated by challenger Steven Wood for the two-year term in Trustee Area 5.[1][3]
