I am a veterinarian that started his own business that now has 4 doctors and 16 staff members. I also continue to manage the family produce farm.

My hobby the last 16 years was to serve on the Glastonbury Town Council, including 6 years as Chairman and 2 years as Chairman of the Capitol Region Council of Governments.

I am married to Jill for 35 years and have 2 adult children, Leah and Clayton.
  • We need economic growth in the state
  • We need to narrow or eliminate the education gap that exists with student learning
  • Voting and ballot access reform
I am most interested in economic development, especially small business startups and entrepreneurial efforts that provide the vast bulk of new jobs and provides economic opportunity and mobility.
I have had several mentors, all of whom were self made men that were honest, straightforward and their word was their bond. I try to make sure I always maintain their lessons and example of how to live and act.

Politically, I like Abraham Lincoln for being able to deal with severe stress and doing the right thing regardless of the personal toll.
Benjamin Franklin for his thoughtfulness and curiosity about how to make things work.
Teddy Roosevelt for doing what was right, but not necessarily easy.

Ronald Reagan for his ability to communicate in a way people understood.
Honesty and open mindedness. You have to be able to ask the question why and find answers without a preconceived notion of what the solution is. Your research into the why almost always leaves with a different root cause than what you started with. You have to fix root causes, not symptoms.
I can listen to many disparate ideas and often synthesize solutions from all of them, instead of just 1 or 2 sources of information.
I also can be patient and work for a long term solution that is not easy to obtain.
It is necessary to bring people together to understand the issues and look for the weak points in systems and processes so that they can be fixed. Too much time is spent trying to throw out and replace things, instead of fixing what exists with modification and critical testing of results.
I would like to see Connecticut growing economically, with new job availability hat brought prosperity to both our rural and urban areas, which have been especially bypassed in the past 20-30 years.
My first paying job was renting inner tubes and serving drinks at a lake resort in Florida. I did this for 1 summer between freshman and sophomore year of high school.
I love any political biography because there is always more to the story than is popularly known.
I have taken big financial risks to start my business, and spent many years getting those risks under control. I understand what it is to be limited on income, or the frustration that your dreams seem unattainable.
