Stranch confirmed to Sixth District Appeals Court
September 14, 2010
Washington, D.C.: Yesterday, the U.S. Senate, just returned from its recess, confirmed Jane Stranch to the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit by a vote of 71-21. Stranch was nominated by President Obama on August 6, 2009. The 13 months between nomination and confirmation signified the longest pending nomination for an Obama nominee for the federal appellate courts.[1]
During her legal career, Stranch was a private practice attorney concentrating on labor, employment, and Employee Retirement Income Security Act litigation.[2]
The Sixth Circuit Court covers Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee and is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Like all federal judges, Stranch was confirmed to a lifetime appointment.[3]
