This measure sought to allow the lease of a two acre parcel of land adjacent to highway U.S. 1 that was a part of the Heart of Haney Creek preserve area. This was a part of a joint effort with the county to create and fund a nature preserve area, this leased land would be developed as it is not part of the natural wetland area and would fund maintenance costs of the preserve.[2]
