I have lived in Gahanna since 1989 with my husband, Verlin and have raised our three children, Courtney, Emily & Zach. Our children all graduated from GLHS and had great experiences during their time in the school district. I was very active volunteering in the PTA/PTO's and boosters for my children. On a professional level, I graduated with dual degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Thiel College and moved to Columbus after graduation. I spent 3 years at a Big 8 accounting firm, Ernst & Whinney. I spent 16 years with Victoria's Secret Direct where I progressed through the company starting as a financial analyst and became the Executive Vice President of Marketing. I managed large teams of employees and an annual budget of $500 million. My background in finance and management was a great preparation for my position on the Gahanna Jefferson Board of Education.
  • Experienced Leader and Fiscally Responsible. GJPS is currently in the midst of a $250 million dollar building project which needs consistent financial oversight and guidance. Our new high school will open in January of 2026 and have 3 additional projects that need completed by the end of 2027. In addition, school funding is currently an issue within the state of Ohio. The state did not fully fund the fifth and sixth year of the Fair School Funding Plan. As a result, we need consistent financial leadership within the district to manage through the frequent changes from both a state and federal level.
  • Organizational Efficiency and Data Driven. GJPS is the second year of the Strategic Plan. Consistent leadership is needed to continue to rollout the initiatives within the strategic plan. A large focus for this year is organization efficiency and strengthening our data integrity whereby we can implement efficiencies throughout the district. As a result, we can ensure that our taxpayers continue to get an excellent return on their investment and students and teachers get the resources, tools and support they need to succeed.
  • Student Achievement: Rise to Five. Our plan is to become a top 5 district by 2030. As a district we have changed start times to align with proven scientific research for student development, switched to block scheduling at the high school and introduced new curriculum in our elementary math and language arts.
My first job was waitressing and making pizzas at the local pizza restaurant in my home town - Covered Bridge Pizza. I worked there for 6 years all through high school and college. My first job was pivotal in helping me manage my time skills and multitasking. It was also instrumental in helping me understand and manage working with all types of customers.
The primary job of a school board member is fiscal management and approval of the annual budget.
My constituents are all residents of the Gahanna Jefferson School District.
