I am a mother of an elementary and a high school student currently studying in SRVUSD. I am a food scientist, with experience in the corporate sector, start-up world and as an adjunct professor at UC Davis. I was born and brough up in India. After getting my bachelors degree in Nutrition, I came to UC Davis for my M.S. in Food Science. Having grown up in an academic household with both parents being educators, I know the importance of good education and good teachers in our lives.
  • Academic Excellence: A Strong Foundation for the Future Our students deserve an academic curriculum that is comprehensive, competitive and also well-paced to prepare them for the rigor of high school and beyond. This means evaluating our current offerings and ensuring they challenge students while also providing the necessary support. By integrating a balanced mix of core subjects and critical thinking skills, we can equip our students with the tools they need to succeed in higher education and the workforce.
  • Emotional and Mental Health: Effective Solutions for Our Students The emotional and mental well-being of our students is paramount. It’s crucial that the solutions we implement—whether they are counseling services, mental health programs, or social-emotional learning initiatives—are not just checkboxes on a list. We need to ensure that these initiatives are effective and genuinely meet the needs of our students. This requires ongoing assessment and feedback from both students and parents to ensure that our efforts are making a real difference.
  • Responsible Budget Cuts: Protecting Our Core Values In the face of imminent budget cuts, my priority is to ensure that these reductions are made thoughtfully and strategically. Our focus must be on minimizing the impact on classrooms and maintaining our commitment to academic excellence and co-curricular activities. By identifying areas where cuts can be made without compromising our students’ education, we can safeguard the quality of learning and extracurricular opportunities that enrich our students’ lives.
I am passionate about K-12 educational policies as I believe that is when the foundations are laid for what our society will be like in the future.
I believe that anyone who is responsible for making policies which affect others, must be capable of having empathy for all those who will be affected by it.

Policies that are made, must work for everyone. Policies cannot be made solely based on one's own personal beliefs and experiences. It is therefore essential to reach out and hear from those who hold different values and beliefs and those whose circumstances may be different from your own.
If we understand this, we will not see the divisiveness we do currently.

Honesty and the capability to be able to tell right from wrong must be foundational.
I am a food scientist. I worked in R&D in the corporate world, start up sector and as an adjunct professor at UC Davis.
