Summer Wesley is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and a dedicated community advocate, dynamic public speaker, and driven entrepreneur. She spent many years as a social worker and graduated law school from the University of Oklahoma (2013), before founding, Hopoksia, LLC; a company providing educational presentations and diversity and inclusion trainings to organizations; mediation services for parties in civil legal matters; as well as research, writing, editing, and social media management services.
In 2016, Summer was honored for her dedication to community advocacy and service by being given the Norman's Human Rights Award and being named one of Cleveland County's 2017 Women of Influence. The Journal Record named Summer a member of their 2018 class of "Achievers Under 40". Her passion lies in community-building and empowering others.
  • For far too long, Oklahomans have been waiting for the public schools and core services they deserve. Summer will work tirelessly to give everyday Oklahomans a government that works for them.
  • As your representative, Summer pledges to be accessible to you. She will prioritize communicating with you about your concerns and will be fully transparent in explaining her votes in the legislature.
  • Summer has dedicated her career to advocating for the needs of children and families, and she will be a leader in the fight to restore funding to public education and core services.
Education

As a mom, Summer wants only the best for her kids and yours. She will fight for education funding to ensure that all Oklahomans have access to a high quality public education, higher education, and career tech.
Healthcare

Through her years of experience in social work, Summer has seen firsthand the suffering caused by lack of access to healthcare, mental health, and substance abuse treatment. She fully supports SQ 802, which will bring Oklahoma tax dollars back to us to expand our Medicaid program and provide healthcare to thousands of Oklahomans.

Voting YES on SQ 802 on June 30th is only the first step toward fixing our broken healthcare system.
Workforce Development

Thousands of high paying jobs are currently unfilled due to a lack of skilled workers. Summer knows that education is the key to fixing this problem. Summer will advocate for additional education funding to provide opportunities for job retraining programs to put unemployed Oklahomans back to work in the jobs of the future and build a healthy, diversified economy.
The first historical event that I can remember is the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. I was 4 at the time so didn't understand all the details or ramifications. All I knew, when I saw that video on the news, was that all the people on board-whose faces we had seen many times on tv, leading up to the launch-died so, as sad and shocked as the adults around me must be, their families would be even more devastated.
My first job was working in the cafeteria at my school. I was 12 when I started and worked there for about 4 years, when I finally reached an age that qualified me for other positions under the youth work programs.
