An effort to recall Supervisor Dan Jenkins and Treasurer Robert Henderson is underway in Gaines, Michigan.
Recall supporters
Recall organizers submitted the following as grounds for recalling Jenkins and Henderson. For both officials, the Genesee County Election Commission approved the first petition for circulation but denied the second and third petitions.[1]
- "Fired fire chief and office secretary"
- "Costing the township residents $20,000 in interest fees by not following the auditors advice on how to pay for the new fire truck."
- "Misusing township funds by delaying purchase of fire truck until cost substantially increased."

No specific grounds are required for recall in Michigan. To get a recall on the ballot in Michigan, recall supporters must collect signatures equal in number to 25% of voters in the jurisdiction in the last gubernatorial election. They have 60 days between the collection of the first signature and the collection of the last signature on the petition. Recall petitions are eligible to collect signatures for 180 days.[2][3][4]
Recall petitions against Jenkins and Henderson were submitted on October 30, 2025. The Genesee County Election Commission held a clarity hearing on November 17, 2025.[1]
