Suresh Reddy is a member of the Johnston City Council who is running for Iowa House District 43 to bring Iowans together with progressive policies, experienced leadership, and a vision for what Iowa can be if we invest in the future. • Fully Funding Public Education - Public education is one of the primary reasons my family decided to settle down in Iowa. Eighteen years later, public education is under attack by outside groups using the GOP to pass legislation that starves school districts. We are at a tipping point. Either we stand up for public education by giving it the funding it deserves or risk seeing an entire generation of Iowans lose out on opportunities.
  • Supporting Small Business - Small businesses in our district recycle a much larger share of their revenue back into the local economy and create good jobs rooted in the community. We can maintain the community setting we love while ensuring local businesses thrive and continue to attract world-class companies and employment.
  • Investing in infrastructure - High-speed internet isn't the luxury it was even ten years ago. Yet, Iowa is being left behind by other states. That hurts students, workers, and businesses. That's why my goal is to transition to a system where we treat internet as a public utility. Every Iowan deserves access to the countless opportunities that come along with having reliable, high-speed internet.
I would also like to:

REVERSE THE PRIVATIZATION OF MEDICAID

After years of inadequate results, it's clear that we need to reverse the disastrous privatization of Medicaid in Iowa. But, we can't be satisfied with the system we had. We need a well-funded, modernized, inclusive, and transparent healthcare system in Iowa.

DECRIMINALIZE MARIJUANA

Polls have shown that Iowans are in favor of legalizing Marijuana for Iowans over the age of 21. Along the way, I believe we should also overturn the convictions and expunge the record of anyone currently in jail for a non-violent, marijuana-related offense. These people have already paid a heavy price for something that is legal in so many other states. It's time to put politics aside and get people back to their families, jobs, and communities.
Not one in particular, but an amalgam of several people.
The one thing I follow from following a lot of leaders is ‘Action speaks louder than Words’
Hard work, honesty, improving the lives of all people in the state
School cafeteria dish washing. 6 months
Mutual respect and work in tandem for the benefit of the state
As technology changes, getting the next generation ready.
Independent people (not legislators) working together.
A story told by my father, I don’t remember the whole story. The gist of it was ‘ There are two kinds of people in the world. One who talk, another who do. Always be in the second group’
