SusanAnn Martin participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 2, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and SusanAnn Martin's responses follow below.[1]
What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
“ | 1) Eliminate federal restrictions on cannabis sativa 2) Veteran's Choice Program |
” |
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
“ | We have to learn to work as a team and stop judging others personal behavior. We have too many laws against sin and judging sin is not our job.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[3]
|
” |
Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. SusanAnn Martin answered the following:
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?
“ | Black Like Me, 1961, John Howard Griffin I attended an all white grade school so when I started jr. high I was confused. There were 2 girls who looked different, acted different, and were treated different. It was the treatment I did not understand. My parents were wise and admitted they did not know how to explain so they gave me a book telling the story of a white man living as a black man in the same area and then telling his story. All students should read this book.[3] | ” |
“ | It is important elected officials remember they are employees, temporary employees. There individual opinion is no more important than anyone else. They should vote the way the majority of their district wants and they should take the time to ask the boss ""how do you want me to vote?"".[3] | ” |
“ | According to one of my previous technicians, I have more initiative in my little finger than most people have in their entire bodies. Plus, I have more than a decade of experience in extreme poverty while caring for a loved one at home.[3] | ” |
“ | Listen to the citizens. Do as much as possible to improve the quality of life for them.[3] | ” |
“ | That I did the best I could to restore God's gift to man - that was lost due to the greed of man. Cannabis Sativa is a God given right and both the population and the planet have suffered since its loss 80 years ago.[3] | ” |
“ | Cuban Missile Crisis, the year I entered the first grade.[3] | ” |
“ | Maid at Aloha Motor Lodge in Hot Springs, worked weekends through school. After graduation became a checker at Piggly Wiggly.[3] | ” |
“ | Anything by Tom Clancy I always feel I am learning something from him.[3] | ” |
“ | Father Brown, the most non-judgemental Priest ever![3] | ” |
“ | I Am Woman by Helen Reddy followed closely by Bon Jovi's ""It's My Life""[3] | ” |
“ | My struggles turn into blessings. I am one of those who can fall in a bucket of .... and come out smelling like a rose. Honestly, my life has been almost magical.[3] | ” |
“ | It should actually be the peoples house, full of real people and not career politicians.[3] | ” |
“ | Some basic knowledge of current events is needed.[3] | ” |
“ | Cyber war with North Korea and Russia. It already feels as if we have been invaded by Russia and they didn't even have to fire a shot.[3] | ” |
“ | Agriculture, Environmental[3] | ” |
“ | No, but would be if there was public funding for elections. Today's system requires candidates to begin fund raising the day they are elected for the next election in 2 years. Should be 4 years with a limit of 3 terms.[3] | ” |
“ | Yes, three terms of four years each is plenty. This job is public service and should not be seen as a career move.[3] | ” |
“ | Straight lines would be nice. Arkansas has 4 districts but is not divided into 4 equal parts. Party affiliation should not be the prime reason for drawing lines. The 4th district should include the counties long the Miss. river and not the counties in the Northwest.[3] | ” |
“ | No[3] | ” |
“ | John Paul Hammerschmidt He was great for Veterans, on infrastructure, and he saved the Buffalo river[3] | ” |
