I am a retired banker, President of the Republican Women of North Shelby County and common sense conservative. My husband Dennis and I have been residents of North Shelby County for 34 years and we raised our children here. I have a degree in finance from the University of South Alabama and an MBA from Springhill College. I took that skill set to work for Compass Bank where I provided real estate financing to individuals, businesses and builders. Later I left my career in banking to raise my children and also work as a volunteer in the nonprofit sector. As President and Ball Chairmen for the American Heart Association, I was part of a team that raised $700,000 to $1,000,000 annually. I am currently active in the political arena state wide as a leader of Republican Women, a member of the Shelby County Republican executive committee and an alternate Trump delegate for the 2020 RNC convention. I have spoken and represented a conservative viewpoint at the state house in Montgomery. Within the community, I am a member of three Chamber of Commerces- Hoover, Leeds and Shelby County and a part of the government affairs work group for the Shelby Chamber. Dennis and I consider raising our two children to be successful, independent, God fearing adults to be our greatest joy in life. Danielle is a cum laude graduate of Georgetown Law and works as an attorney in Atlanta. Drew graduated with Highest Honors from Georgia Tech in aerospace engineering and is employed in Dallas.
  • Limited Government/Low taxes. Government should be limited so that we are free to run our businesses and raise our children without mandates or over regulation. The government should not pick winners or losers, they should not decide which businesses are essential and who should remain open or closed. Parents should make decisions for their children regarding their education and medical care. I would not have supported the gas tax in 2019 . I believe with infrastructure funding forthcoming and other revenue streams we could have found funding elsewhere. I think it is time to look at eliminating the state grocery tax and the gas tax.
  • Education. The time is now to do something to bring real change to our education system. The answer is not throwing more money at a broken system. In District 45, I believe the residents feel we have good schools, but we must be diligent to continue to improve. I will work with and l listen to the educators in our district as well as parents to always try to represent what is best for our children.
  • Protecting the Integrity of our Elections. People should know their vote is safe and that each vote cast is legal. I support election audits. I believe the state should handle our elections not the Federal government. I believe a paper ballot should back up each electronic vote and the ballot must be protected and secured. No drop boxes . Absentee ballots for authorized reasons only .
Government overreach- The government is seeking to control too much of our everyday lives and we need to fight back. Deciding which businesses can remain open , who has to be vaccinated, requiring we wear a mask to get on a plane, ESG- Environment Social Government scores control too many business decisions. What's next? The Social Credit Scoring like the Chinese have?

Term Limits- When it come to state elections I feel that 2 terms (eight years )is enough. The constitutional offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, Auditor, Treasurer and Agriculture Commissioner and others all are limited to two terms . I believe the State House and State Senate should be limited to 2 terms as well. I support term limits bill HB317 in the current session.

Limiting Special Interest Donations- Alabama is one of only five states that allows unlimited contributions from special interest groups. These special interest groups buy votes and favor in our state and it needs to stop.
I admire President Ronald Reagan because as President of the United States he was a true leader of the free world . He was the very definition of a conservative. I admire his communication skills, his leadership ability, his wit and his ability recognize and fight the threat of communism. I wish he were alive to lead us today.
Someone of integrity who is accountable to the people. Servant hearted, hard working, Judeo-Christian values and the ability to communicate well. Balance all of this with being humble and remembering you work for the people.
Leadership skills, communication skills, relationship building skills, integrity, family focused, servant's heart.
I remember 1969 when hurricane Camille hit on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I was 6 years old and I was supposed to start 1st grade. Our house survived but many around us lost everything. When I did start first grade several weeks late, I was in the first integrated class of public school children. I didn't know this at the time but that was the first year that black and white children went to school together in Mississippi. It didn't seem historic to me just normal.
I was 16 and worked the breakfast shift at Hardees in Ocean Springs, Ms. Remember how everyone loved those Hardees biscuits? I arrived at work at 5:00am and worked until either 10:30 or 2:30. I did this throughout high school. I believe my starting salary was $2.10 an hour. I loved earning my own money and it was here I learned the value of hard work and feeling of accomplishment in earning your own money. I didn't have to depend on others for money and I controlled my own opportunities. I knew I would go to college and with hard work would be a success. We taught our own children the value of hard work and providing for yourself.
A Gentleman in Mosco by Amor Towles. I love historical fiction. It weaves the devastation caused by the Bolsheviks with heartfelt story of a Count sentenced to house arrest in the Hotel Metropol in central Moscow.
I believe the governor and state legislature share a balance of power and the relationship is an important part of the checks and balances required to make sure one branch of government is not given too much power. The governor should allow the state legislature to act independently and not exert undue influence. The governor has the power of the veto, that is a powerful check on the legislature.
I am most interested in the Constitution Campaigns and Elections Committee . I believe the safety and integrity of our elections are most essential. I would want to be a part of insuring fair safe elections where every citizen has the opportunity to vote and I support our current voter ID law.

I also would be interested in the Economic Development and Tourism committee, the Shelby County County Legislation Committee and the Jefferson County Legislation Committee.
Yes I believe the governor alone should not have the exclusive ability to approve a prolonged state of emergency. I was in support of HB 97 filed in the 2021 legislative session . This bill would require legislators to approve the extension of any state health emergency in excess of two weeks.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Alabama

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
