Campaign website

Hathaway-Altman’s campaign website stated the following:

The United States is in a sharp decline….morally, economically and with our local and national security. Working men and women have been forgotten. They cannot make ends meet. Most Americans are reliant on credit cards to afford the lives they once lived comfortably in. America itself is under attack from within. Suburban neighborhoods are becoming unsafe. Taxes are on the rise. Inflation continues to skyrocket. Our Southern border is wide open to criminals and toxic drugs. And our national debt is racking up - tens of trillions - for the first time ever, with no relief in sight.

All of this happened to us in the last 3 years….voting has consequences – it can destroy our calm, peaceful, and affordable lives.

As Americans striving for change, we only have one choice – to put our differences aside, rise above all of the rhetoric, and be part of the solution to build a Better America. My name is Susan Hathaway-Altman, and I am running for Congress. And I am here to assure you that better days are coming. Like Ronald Reagan once said, “It’s morning again in America again” and it is time that we become prouder, stronger and better! I will lead the charge to pull us out of this free-fall, and on to the road to a better America.

If you know me, you’ll know that I have an extremely hard work ethic, and I will work hard for you in Congress. I will use my business background and experiences to transform our country. I will author bills and support policies that will allow more people to own homes again, to work at higher paying jobs, to pay less interest on mortgages and credit cards, and to stamp out inflation for once and for all so that we can all have a chance at a prosperous and successful future. I will support law enforcement, so that they can do their jobs and we can regain safety in our neighborhoods. It may seem dismal now, but have faith, the only way out is to rise up and be part of the movement of change.

Simply by voting for candidates like me and others that love America and love our state, and have the skills to create policies that are meaningful to normal, everyday people – you will be part of the change. I promise to always uphold our Constitution, it's Rights, Amendments, and Articles for you and your children and grandchildren, to keep the unique freedoms we have in America in tact for generations to come.

Border Crisis
Our Southern border is being invaded by tens of thousands of migrants entering our country illegally and in many cases unprocessed, "Got-Aways", without any understanding of their backgrounds. Many deaths of migrants and also U.S. citizens as a result of this chaos and lawlessness are happening all along the border. Drug smuggling and child trafficking are on the rise and becoming harder and harder to control for outnumbered law enforcement. Our administration is not only doing nothing about this crisis, but also are making conditions exponentially worse by attracting illegal entry into the United States. Biden administration policies support mass migration by offering promises of money, jobs, citizenship, voting rights, and many other assets of the American Dream that for years immigrants have waited for and assimilated to by doing it the correct and legal way. President Biden, Secretaries Mayorkas and Blinken discussed with the President of Mexico amnesty for illegal immigrants at a time when America is experiencing the worst border crisis in our nation’s history. I will take a very hard line on both securing our Southern border and enforcing the current laws we have on the books for immigration into our country. You cannot have a country without borders. Our laws were put in place to ensure that people coming into this country have an understanding of our history, culture and laws, and by going through the proper processes (whether you are coming here to work, to rejoin family members or for the promise of the American Dream) you would assimilate well. Why is that so important? Because those coming here with the wrong intentions, or hate instead of love of our country and government, could potentially risk the most free and prosperous life of any country in the world, one of our constitutional federal republic. One that repels Communism, Socialism, and Extremism that lead to an unsafe, untenable environment. I will protect our country's sovereignty, and ensure that immigration is lawful and systematic, and creates the right opportunity for prosperity to migrants, as well as safe, healthy communities for all of our citizens.

Inflation
With 30+ years in Corporate America, I know how to get our economy back on track. As gas prices double and groceries become unaffordable, we must take immediate action. America must become energy independent and food independent. I support the growth of clean natural gas, new drilling, opening up the Keystone Pipeline, resume fracking, building new refineries, and producing just as much or more oil as we did in the last administration. We cannot keep depleting our oil reserves like we are under the Biden administration. I also support our farmers and their ability to farm and make it affordable to purchase raw materials, diesel and fertilizer to grow crops. Our families in District 11 can no longer afford these drastic costs at the pump and at the kitchen table. We have to bring businesses back to America and to District 11.

Supply Chain
I am the most skilled candidate to solve our Supply Chain issues. I have had 30 years of experience working directly on the supply chain, and in a myriad of positions, giving me a well-rounded perspective. We must work on moving our businesses back to America. And we must eliminate heavy government restrictions and check points instituted in this Administration, which has slowed the supply chain down. No longer should we burden distribution and halt production on critical products such as baby formula, meat and produce, and other essentials which are scarce or soon may be impossible to find in stores. Leading the "Baby Formula Drive" in District 11 in 2022, I provided a solution to replenish emergency supplies to those babies in need, by helping Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry and other pantries that benefit low-income families with their drives for Formula and food during this time. It has been such a success that I started the Non-Profit "Feed Our Babies" right here in the 11th district. The more control we have over the supply chain, and the more products and components made in America, the better system we will have to stabilize the supply chain, and in turn help our economic downturn and the looming recession.

Education
Academic standards are being lowered, behavioral standards are being removed, and teaching math, science and reading is being replaced with teaching social issues leaning toward political agendas, non-factual history, and extreme ideology. In the meantime we have lost our edge to China and Russia in the areas of Math, Science and English. Education across our district should be not only be equal for all, it should also be academically sound in content, teaching, and testing. I will prioritize change on a national level, and fight for school choice, parental notification and more sound economic policy for education.

Taxes
We have to lower our tax base. The taxes in IL-11 on property and state levels are some of the highest in the nation, and now on the rise. People (and businesses) want to move out of our district into lower cost states to afford a decent living. We cannot exacerbate that on a federal level. I will introduce bills that lower taxes federally to incentivize businesses to move in and offer good wages to citizens of district 11. And I will propose sweeping spending reduction federally to get our deficit under control, and stabilize our tax base.

Safety
America's violent crime rate is rising at an exponential rate. Our suburbs are suddenly wrought with crime that did not exist before many of the most recent changes in legislation, and the general malaise of the Biden administration. From a federal level, we must support our law enforcement, and provide them with the right environment to work under, the proper training, and equipment necessary to do their jobs effectively. I believe in a tough-on-crime, restorative justice approach. Repeat criminals must be prosecuted and held to strict, mandatory sentencing and bonds in place. Restorative justice should be provided to others that are non-violent first time offenders. Our borders must be secure to prevent illegal Fentanyl and other deadly drugs that are making their way into our district and poisoning and killing our citizens at an alarming rate. I am the only candidate that has visited our Southern border, and met with Border Patrol to support their efforts and discuss how this problem is deeply affecting Illinois District 11. I will lead the charge to close the border and to uphold our immigration laws. Federally, I will make it my mission to ensure that our legislative branch of government is working on behalf of the American people, and not for political gain or special interest. And we will keep the good citizens of this country protected, and the criminals prosecuted.

Cultural Transformation
Our culture is suffering and our values are not in focus. I am motivated to lead the way for cultural transformation. We must come together as a nation, and stop the polarization that has divided us. To live harmoniously in a nation where we respect the views of others, even if they do not align with our own. To exist in an environment of mutual respect, with people of all walks of life, varied backgrounds and belief systems. We must collaborate positively, sharing views and opinions, in an effort to create effective solutions together. I believe in lifting others up and providing help and support to those in need. We must preserve our unique Midwest Values built on strong spiritual beliefs and strong family units that are unique to each individual, and are not interfered with by an over-reaching central government. Solutions to our most difficult family and daily living situations begin with strong community support and resources. American homeless, citizens in severe financial crisis, and those that have been marginalized need less talk and more real solutions to finally address their needs and improve their lives. In every way I can, I have and will take action to help communities in the 11th district. I am an advocate of bringing people together to collaborate and create solutions that work on a community and national level. Improving our culture by collaborating with each other, focusing on family values and faith, limiting government interference, and engaging with our community is the right plan to pave our path to a Better America.[2]

I believe in the people of the 11th Congressional District in Illinois! I want the thoughts, ideas, and opinions of our district to be heard, by offering a sound communications platform in which citizens living in our district can have a voice and express their views. I will be highly accessible and will welcome your feedback. From there, I will take these thoughts and opinions to "the Hill" and fight hard for what the 11th District wants and believes in.
  • Strong Schools - every student in the 11th District should have exceptional education and facilities.
  • Fiscal responsibility - spending money on the right programs for the district and increasing revenues
  • Collaboration - working together successfully with other elected leaders in Illinois and with the people of the 11th District in an atmosphere that creates positive change.
