Susan Hawk
Susan Hawk is the former district attorney of Dallas County, Texas. She was elected on November 4, 2014, and was sworn into office on January 1, 2015.[1] She resigned on September 6, 2016.[2]
Hawk previously served as a judge on the Texas District 291 court from 2002 to 2013. She resigned in order to run for district attorney.[3]
Biography
Hawk earned her B.S. in English and psychology from Texas Tech University and her J.D. from Texas Wesleyan University.[4]
Elections
2014
Hawk (R) defeated incumbent Craig Watkins (D) in the general election on November 4, 2014.[5] Hawk became the first Republican to win a countywide office in 10 years and the first woman to be elected district attorney.[1]

Hawk won the Democratic primary and was re-elected after running unopposed in the general election.[3]

Personal and professional battles
Hawk drew media attention in early August 2015 after taking an initially unexplained leave of absence from her office.[6] She later said her disappearance was due to treatment for depression.[7] A local news channel reported that Hawk was at an inpatient treatment facility. She was released in late September and returned to work on October 1. [8][9]
