Susan Segal
Susan Segal was a judge for District 7 of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She assumed office on November 25, 2019. She left office on December 31, 2024.
Segal ran for re-election for the District 7 judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Segal was appointed to the court by Gov. Tim Walz (D) and assumed office on November 25, 2019.[1][2]
Gov. Walz appointed Segal as chief judge on April 13, 2020, to serve the remainder of the term of Edward J. Cleary until October 31, 2022.[3] On October 31, 2022, Gov. Walz reappointed Segal as chief judge.[4] Segal retired from the court on December 31, 2024.[5]
Education
Segal received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law[3]
Career
Prior to her appointment to the bench in 2019, Segal served as the Minneapolis City Attorney beginning in 2007. Her previous professional experience includes working as a senior attorney at the Hennepin County Attorney's office, a partner at Gray Plant Mooty, Mooty & Bennett, P.A., and a sole practitioner.[3]
